What You Need to Know About Your Vehicles Cabin Filter - By Todd Harris

Cabin air filters are used in many vehicles sold in the US. Cabin air filters have been integrated in the climate control system in most vehicles. These filters are replaceable and should be done on a regular basis. Change your cabin air filter every 12,000 to 15,000 miles. This can be done along with one of your vehicles regularly scheduled oil changes.

Your cabin air filter is used whether you use the A/C or heater in your car. There is always air flowing in your car, SUV or truck.

A cabin air filter works much like the air filter in your home’s heating and air conditioning system, filtering out many harmful substances. A clogged, or dirty cabin filter will not be able to stop those allergens, dust & dirt. You will be breathing air that is dirtier than what is outside. This can often be the cause of headaches and itchy watery eyes during high pollen season. Those who deal with environmental allergies and asthma are most often affected.

Regarding whether this filter can be a barrier or filtering mechanism against COVID 19 remains to be seen. However, I would recommend regular cleaning of one’s vehicle interior, along with cabin filter replacement is smart in keeping your vehicle clean and healthy.

Here at Crown Car Care we can check to see if your vehicle in fact needs a new cabin filter. Just one of the many services we provide.
